Driving Question: How can we inspire the innovator within ourselves to design and create pieces that will promote WES Seahorse pride and help us to build on our personal as well as social skills?
What did the students DO?
The WES Seahorse Design Lab was a completely student-led group. When students had an idea for the design lab, they presented the idea to the group and to the teacher, had a discussion, took a vote, created a recommended list of supplies, planned out the cost, made a request for supplies and then tackled production! Throughout the year, the creativity of this team was very inspiring. Some of the projects they worked on were creating a new school coin displaying the school mascot and motto, 3D planter pots to hold air plants donated by a Waiʻaane farmer, repurposed wooden name signs for special orders, magnets, 3D roses for Valentineʻs Day, t-shirts and aprons using the Cricut and Silhouette Cameo machines, hanging signs using recycled mirrors and explorations with resin and sand. They also created 3D super heroes which they donated to the school store. This was a very happy and busy group.
