Fraction Attraction | 2019-2020

School: Ka Waihona o Ka Na’auao Public Charter School
Grade Level: Grade 5
Teacher: Kalei Sagapolutele

Diving Question: How can we apply a hands-on approach to better understand fractions?

This 5th-grade project allowed students to experience and explore fractions through the manipulating of everyday items including M&Ms, Twizzlers, and making recipes of various food and non-food items (i.e., Slime). Through these hands-on experiences, students were able to better make sense of how fractions work and how fractions are part of their daily lives.
