Driving Questions: What can sports & exercise do for the body and brain? What healthy food alternatives do I have? How can I respect my body?

What did the students DO?

The Energy Boost group spent most of their year playing various sports and participating in physical exercise to benefit both brain and body.  Part of their learning included healthy food alternatives and respecting their own bodies.  At the end of the year students were able to hike along the Waiʻanae Coast.  Locations included Puʻu o Hulu (Māʻili Pill Box), Kaʻena Point and Icy Ponds in Mākaha Valley.

Not only did students participate in activities for healthy bodies and minds, but they worked at building healthy and positive peer relationships.  This found its application on hikes as students were responsible for keeping a watchful eye out on their peers and hiking partners.
