Afterschool Chorus | 2019-2020

School: Ka Waihona o Ka Na’auao Public Charter School
Grade Level: 3-5
Teacher: Maile Naki

Driving Question: How can we (after school chorus) impact our community positively through music?

Students in this select chorus group sang repertoires of Hawaiʻi and the world, studying about the places, they sang about. They connected to many cultures and customs through songs. This group participated in multiple choral festivals on Oʻahu and was privileged to be invited to sing alongside professional opera performers in various events learning from these seasoned veterans. Students learned to sight-read musical scores, perform simple harmonies, and practice singing with many voices together as one.
