Kanaka Entrepreneurs | 2019-2020

School: Nānākuli High & Intermediate School
Grade Level: 9-12
Teacher: Nicole Mikes

Driving Question: How do we as entrepreneurs design products to share our moʻolelo or message?

Students worked to learn entrepreneur skills, such as the cost of supplies, how much is needed to turn a profit, and how to stay on budget while creating handmade items (jewelry, hydro flask covers, hats) through weaving with lauhala. They sold their items at two different craft fairs sponsored by the school and also worked with elementary students to teach them weaving skills as well.
