Cook and Create | 2019-2020

School: Ka Waihona o Ka Na’auao Public Charter School
Grade Level: 2-4
Teacher: Merri Hofherr and Mary Hunter

Driving Question: How can creating art, cooking, and playing help us understand and take care of our place?

Creating art and healthy recipes was a fun way to explore places for this group. Healthy vs. unhealthy, sweet vs. savory, crunchy vs. mushy, farm-fresh vs. store-bought, primary vs. secondary colors, creating natural dyes vs. crayons, and so much more was tackled during this group time together. Starting with a school tour of plants and foods, walking to the nearby open market, exploring the nearest grocery store, observing, and creating art in various locations were just some of the adventures this group explored.
