Driving Question: How do we, as young AlphaZen students, use the power of mindful movement and breath to cultivate inner strength, resilience, and a sense of calm in our everyday lives?
What did the students DO?
The AlphaZen group embraced the art of mindfulness through yoga, blending movement, breath, and relaxation techniques to nurture both body and mind. Although small in size, the group’s dedication and enthusiasm created a peaceful, uplifting space where students could strengthen their inner calm and resilience.
- Introduction to Yoga: Students were introduced to yoga as a mindful, relaxing exercise, beginning with simple poses and learning their Hawaiian and English names.
- Calming Atmosphere: Sessions included soothing music and a diffuser with relaxing essential oils, creating a tranquil environment that both keiki and kumu enjoyed.
- Joyful Experience: The students expressed genuine enjoyment in the yoga movements and mindful breathing practices, finding moments of calm and connection in each session.
The AlphaZen group demonstrated how mindful movement and breathwork can foster emotional balance, resilience, and well-being. By creating a safe and calming environment, the program empowered students to carry mindfulness skills beyond PALS, supporting their focus, emotional health, and positive engagement in daily life.
